When does the app launch?
We are wrapping up the beta. Founders get in first, in the order they claimed their spot, and the rest of the list a few weeks later.
Do I have to pay anything now?
No. We do not ask for a card or any payment details. Just your email, so we can tell you when we open and switch on your free year of Premium.
What happens when the free year ends?
It is your call: stay on Premium at the price of the day or move to the free version. Nobody gets charged without warning.
Is it only for people from outside Spain?
No. roots is for anyone interested in meeting someone from a different background: people who just arrived, people who came back and people who never left.
What if my country is not there?
You can tell us which one it is when you claim your spot. A community opens once ten people from the same origin are in the same city.
Which cities does roots work in?
We start in Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia, where most people have signed up and where there are plans every week. You can claim a spot from any city in Spain: we open a new one once enough people are there.
Which nationalities can I filter by?
There are 18 at launch. Among them Spain, Mexico, Argentina, Italy, France, Brazil, Colombia, Portugal, Germany, Morocco, Japan, the United Kingdom, Peru, Venezuela, Chile and Poland. You can combine as many as you like in the same filter, you do not have to pick just one.
How is it different from Tinder or Bumble?
The swiping feels familiar, but filtering by origin changes who you end up talking to: instead of everyone, you see people who share your roots or a background you want to know. And beyond dating there are communities by country and plans with limited spots, which is where people actually meet.
